Illuminate One Little Word 2011 |
First off I'd like to thank you for visiting my blog. I know there are a lot of blogs out there and you only have so much time to be hanging out in cyberspace! To thank you for your time I'll be giving away two little goodie bags of embellishments. To be entered into the drawing just leave a comment! Check back on Wednesday, November 2nd for the 2 lucky winners' names.
So, on to our October prompt........
At the beginning of the month it feels like I have all the time in the world to work on a fairly simple & straightforward prompt from Ali to take 9 photos that show how your word is part of your life or the meaning your word has brought to your life. Ali asked us to think about what we would specifically like to happen in the next 3 months of this year. I took these 4 photos at the beginning of the month and then lost track of my word as I became immersed in other projects. Right now, it feels like the month just zipped right by and here I am, unprepared, for another blog hop! Since I missed one month totally I've decided I'm participating each month whether I'm prepared or not.
October 2011 |
ADDENDUM: For Julie Ann who asked for more information on my photos (thank you! for making me stretch and think!)-
Julie Ann - the photo of my shadow I felt represented me in the dark looking to the light which is how I felt at the beginning of the year - I was looking for answers to a variety of things. The light bursting through the trees in the early morning seemed like the way I felt when answers came to me this year). The other 2 photos were taken as I played with photos of light and to me just represent our days and life - they each have some confusion and murky areas and then areas of light. I never take photos like this and wanted to include them to remind me to try different approaches.
Next on the hop is: Amanda at http://scrappnbee.blogspot.com/

As they say, Life Happens, and it does to all of us. I am like you in letting this slide a little but am trying to come back. It isn't so much about finishing is it, but about actually doing the thinking and meditating with your word. I love your illuminate picture at the top. I remember it from the beginning.
ReplyDeleteI love the quote you found and tried to source it for you - no luck. It is a bit paraphrased from Matthew 5:16. Also, Marianne Williamson has a famous quote with a similar sentiment:
ReplyDelete"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.' We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
It's hard to keep up with all our crafty fun! Looks like you have a great start. That is a wonderful quote, and like Cheri, it does remind me of that verse.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it seems that things can get away from us or that we cannot find the perfect image to celebrate the moment. Hopefully you can find them to help you with your OLW journey. Thanks for sharing what you have so far! -Amanda
ReplyDeleteGood on you for sharing whether you are prepared or not! Embracing imperfection as Karen Grunberg would say- she had a whole Big Picture class on that theme. I love that quote by Marianne Williamson that Cheri shared. I would have liked to know more about the photos you did take this month though! Happy November!!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!! thanks for letting me know you added this. Love it! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI'm SO glad you went ahead and shared what you had prepared. It isn't about perfection, it's about the process. :) And I love your quote, too. Keep shining! Blessings...
ReplyDeleteGood for you, sharing where you are now. I've done the same in month's past, and try to remember that where I am is exactly where I'm supposed to be! So glad you're on the hop!
ReplyDeleteWell done for sharing how far you came during the month - sometimes life gets in the way and that's okay - its what makes us who we are. I love your photos.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you joined us this month. You have made good progress on this months prompt. I really like the quote and i like the meaning behind you photos. Great job.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you have joined us again. I missed your candle. I hope you are back to full health. I love your photos. So fun to experiment with the camera. I need to do that more often. THanks for the inspiration. THey turned out perfect for your word.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little late on the hop but I'm glad I got to read the stories behind your photos. Love the quote too. It's great to see you back on the hop and that your word is still working for you even when life gets busy.
