Fall Bucket List and Cricut Artbooking Cartridge>"?

Last weekend I started a couple of projects and I'm in the process of finishing them this weekend.  One of them is my Fall Bucket List.  This project gave me the opportunity to start playing with my new Cricut Artbooking cartridge.  I haven't even started playing with the 3 stamp sets or 2 sheets of chipboard shapes that came with the Cricut Artbooking Collection!

One of the items in the cartridge I was really excited about were the variety of overlays available on the cartridges.

I hadn't even thought of how much use I would get from the same overlay shape by changing the color of the cardstock or the position of the overlap.  The white and yellow overlay are the same overlay.

Plus you can change the size of the overlay.  This overlay is part of the Christmas mini-book.

So I played with the color of the overlay and the base cardstock until I found a combination I liked.

Then I added some print paper and cut it the size of the overlay.  Base cardstock is 12 x 12 inches and the print paper and overlay is 11 x 11 inches

To increase the sense of depth I added a variety of color blocks cut from cardstock to some of the overlay openings leaving some open to see the print paper.  I can't wait to use these overlays and adding photos to them!

I used a variety of items to embellish the pages which gave me an opportunity to use up items in my stash some of which I've had for years.  A lot of items  were leftovers from sets.  Always good to use some things up.

I typed the list of items on vellum and then cut them out.

There are no photos but I'll use this 2 page layout in my Project Life album to introduce the "fall" section of the year.

Fall is my favorite time of year.  I love all the colors so creating this was a lot of fun!  This is my second seasonal bucket list.  I don't expect to do everything on the list but it comes in really handy when my husband and I look at each other at the end of a long workweek and say "what do you want to do this weekend?"  Summer and fall always seem to go so fast and it's a great way to make sure you do all your favorite or some "new" favorites before the season ends!

Inspiration

As I've mentioned before on the blog I love to get mail - the fun kind, not the bill kind.  So I try to participate in swaps when I have the chance.  On Creating with the Cricut FB's page I signed up to do a simple swap. The person on the list before me sends to me and I send to the person on the list after me. The items in the photo are what I got from my swap partner who had emailed me to ask what I liked and worked on.  We were to each send $25 of craft supplies to our partner.  Cindy did a great job as I do not have any of these Tim Holtz items and I did just pick up some of the Tattered Time paper packs and just love the papers!  As you can see I've already used the tissue tape (see yesterday's post - its on the bottom of the collage)  If you haven't used the tissue tape yet you need to get some - it so easy to use!  The fun thing about a swap like this is that you get things that you might not purchase yourself so it kind of forces you in new directions.  I got a bunch of fibers in a swap once and I thought I'm never going to use these but I saved them and eventually had a lot of fun using them.  These items are going to come in handy for the Composition for Collage class this month so I'm very happy about that.

For those of you in the western NY area this weekend is the Allentown Art Festival on Sat and Sun  11am-6pm in the Allentown District of Buffalo.  Here's the link http://www.allentownartfestival.com/
We're planning on going on Saturday.  Always amazing artwork and great gift items.
Summer is always full of opportunity for inspiration for your artwork.  My weekends will be full through Labor Day.  CKC-Buffalo is June 16-19 and I'll be up there for one day just to check the vendors out.  No classes or crops this year since I'm doing so many classes at BPC.  Jamestown's Secret Garden Tour is on June 18th and I'm always amazed at the things people do in their gardens - I love the ones that are like little retreats in the city.  The last weekend of the month I'm taking a class called Creating albums from altered books so I'm looking forward to that too.  Hope you're finding time for some creative field trips this summer.  Its a great way to re-energize your creative spirit!

Cricut Baby Steps

I finished these cute little baby boys yesterday.  This cute baby boy is from Cricut's Baby Steps cartridge and is pretty quick & easy to put together.  I made several at 6" and a couple of 5 1/2.  I did a few different things with the faces.  For most of them I ended up using my Copic markers to do the smile, nose and rosy cheeks.  I didn't like the paper pieces for the nose & cheeks - didn't look very realistic.  I tried chalk for the cheeks and didn't like that as well as the Copic markers.  I added some "googly" eyes(as my little friend, Ali, called them) and there they are.

 Here are a few of the cards that I made as samples for my daughter-in-law to look at - the live on the opposite coast from us.  If she likes any of them I'll make up her choice(s) into baby announcements and/or thank you cards.  I used the Cricut cartridge New Arrival for these.  The plane card may seem an odd choice for a baby announcement but my son works for Boeing working on their airplane, the Dreamliner (787).

Gift tags

I wanted to show you some gift tags I finally put together last week.  I had cut them out last fall and then they waited until I could find time to put them together.  I'll have to do some close-up photos as you can not see the Prisma glitter or stickles that I've used.  Each snowflake card has a different Stickle on it!

Christmas cards

Tonight I've been working on finishing up some odds & ends that were needed on a few items - I noticed a few things that were needed as I packed everything up. I also had some time tonight to make some Christmas cards that I had started making parts of several weeks ago.  The candy cane and "HoHoHo" were all made with Cricut cartridge Very Merry Tags.  I think this is one of my very favorite cartridges so far - these are so easy to make and can be used in so many ways!  On these cards I added them to the front of the card with a brad so they can be removed and hung on the tree or used on a gift.  A few have "To" & "From " on the backs for use as gift tags.  The front of the cards are embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder.  Hope this is a quick & easy idea for your Christmas cards

Craft time

I know its been awhile since I've posted a new project however I have been busy crafting. I borrowed my friend & fellow crafter, Linda's Cricut cartridge Christmas/Noel and have been cutting out Christmas trees, houses, wreaths and more like crazy!  They aren't put together yet - I'm saving that project for evenings when I'm sitting watching TV.  Once I finished that I pulled out 3 cartridges I got last Christmas and haven't done very much with.  I've been cutting snowmen out along with their outfit from the Cricut cartridge Snow Friends.  Those too will get put together some evening.
